Donald D. Hochhalter, 73, peacefully went to his heavenly home surrounded by his loving family and devoted wife, Dee on January 13, 2018 in Oregon.

Don was born May 27, 1944, in Missoula, Montana, to Emmanuel and Emma (Schneider) Hochhalter. He was raised in Missoula and graduated from Sentinel High School. He served in the National Guard and began his 42 year career with Burlington Northern Railroad in Missoula and retired as chief clerk in Albany, Oregon.

Don married Chareleen “Dee” (Truitt) Hirning in 1979 in Lolo, Montana. They enjoyed their life adventures together and especially enjoyed the Oregon Coast as a favorite getaway.

Don was a loving husband and father as well as a good friend to many. He enjoyed dancing with the Solo Stars Square Dancing Club and his time with the Mendelssohn Choir in Missoula. Don was a member of Trinity Baptist Church both in Missoula and Lebanon, Oregon.

Don was preceded in death by his son, Brent and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Dee; sons Jon and Kirk; his stepchildren, Susan, Jeanne, and Matthew; his brothers, Dennis and Clyde; and many grandchildren.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Don on May 26, 2018 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Lebanon, Oregon.
